CEO & Board Member
Dany Safi is the Founder and CEO of the Middle East‘s premier district cooling company,
National Central Cooling Co. (PJSC) - Tabreed. Since its foundation in 1998, Safi’s
effective leadership, forward strategy, problem solving and lateral thinking skills
have guided Tabreed to its current position as an internationally recognized industry
leader.
Safi serves on the board of the following companies:
International District Energy Association (IDEA) - USA since 2003. (Board Member)
In addition, Safi is an active member of several organizations and trade associations
including the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), the Young Presidents
Organization (YPO) and American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning
Engineering, Inc. (ASHRAE). He is also a life member of the Association of Energy
Engineers (AEE) and of the facility Managers Institute of (AEE). Prior to establishing
Tabreed, he held senior management positions at several leading international companies.
He’s holding a B.Sc. of Electrical Engineering from France and an M.Sc. in Mechanical
Engineering from the UK.

Deputy CEO and VP – Administration & Finance
Karl joined Tabreed in 1998. He holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering degree from
Carnegie-Mellon University and a Masters in Business Administration from the Metropolitan
Campus, Minnesota State University.
He has over 35 years experience in district energy and electric utility industries
in the engineering, operations, management, marketing and finance departments. Karl
has been active in the International District Energy Association serving in leadership
positions, speaking at various conferences and has received several international
awards.

Chief Operating Officer
Khaled has extensive experience, locally and internationally, in the field of project
management that covers vast technical and managerial aspects involving the design
of various mechanical systems, air conditioning as well as operations of petrochemical
plants.
He started his professional career in 1998 as the Mechanical Project and Design
Engineer at M-E Engineers in Colorado, USA, wherein he designed and built mechanical
systems and sporting facilities. In 2000, Khaled moved to the UAE capital and held
several positions at the Abu Dhabi Polymers Company and Borouge, part of the ADNOC
Group Petrochemical Company. He became Deputy Plant Manager in 2005, overseeing
the operational activities within the petrochemical plant, which made a direct impact
on company production volumes, safety records, plant reliability and quality of
services.
Prior to Tabreed, Khaled was Project Manager of Mubadala Development Company in
2006 where he managed major energy investment projects in Masdar, a new start up
company specializing in advance energy and sustainability. He is also a registered
Project Management Professional (PMP), an international certification from the Project
Management Institute (PMI).

Chief Financial Officer
Abdulla Matar Al Muhairi started his professional career at the Central Bank of
UAE in 1999 as the Assistant Examiner, Banking Supervision and Examination Department.
In this capacity his primary responsibilities included overseeing local and foreign
banks operating in the United Arab Emirates.
He was promoted to Examiner in 2001 and then, in 2004, he became the Senior Examiner
of the Banking Supervision and Examination Department. There he was responsible
for providing strategic recommendations for improvements to the bank and providing
guidance to multi-disciplinary team members of various nationalities.
A year later, Abdulla was appointed Examination Section Manager, Banking Supervision
and Examination Department. There he utilized his extensive knowledge to oversee
the entire spectrum of relevant banking activities. This included credit function,
treasury operations, correspondent banking, accounting, internal audit and other
support services among others.
Abdulla was named Chief Financial Officer of Tabreed in 2007. His appointment was
of particular importance, as the company has entered a period of extraordinary growth.
He is a business management graduate, with a major in finance, from American University
in Washington DC, USA.

Projects Director
Maged Fahmy, Projects Director, has more than thirty years experience in the analysis,
engineering and operation of utility systems including district cooling.
Maged’s capabilities in project management and business development were instrumental
in transforming Tabreed from a locally orientated business to a recognized leading
international district cooling company. He has conducted feasibility studies and
identified the advantages of district cooling over conventional HVAC systems.
Maged is a member of the International District Energy Association (IDEA) and the
Financial Committee for Tabreed’s affiliate companies outside the UAE.
Maged has a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in power engineering,
from Cairo University. He has conducted post graduate studies in strategic military
science. Prior to joining Tabreed, he held senior design and executive positions
in both the Egyptian and UAE Armed Forces Engineering Corps.
Born in 1949, Maged is currently based in Abu Dhabi with his family.
His interests include social events as well as classical Arabic and Jazz music.

Administration & Services Support Director
Thani Al Rumaithi is Tabreed's Administration & Services Support Director. Rumaithi,
who holds a Diploma in Financial Management & Consultancy from the US, Diploma
in Human Resources Management & Consultancy from Canada, B.Sc. (Science) in
Business Management and a Masters in Business Administration from the US, directs
eight different administrative divisions at Tabreed including Group Support Division,
Shareholder Relations, Human Resource, Administration, PR, Government Relations,
Communication and HSE.
Rumaithi has many professional certifications in HR, Administration, and Finance
and is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), the American
Society of Training and Development (ASTD), the American Institute of Financial
Consultants (USA), and the Chartered Association of Business Administrator (Canada).
Rumaithi has more than ten years work experience in the HR, Administration, and
Finance. Rumaithi is well versed with planning, leadership development, budgeting,
assessment, policies, procedures, the administration of compensation and benefits,
recruitment and staffing, training, and employee relations.

Operations & Maintenance Director
James has a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, University of Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA. His
experience of more than 20 years in various manufacturing industries spans roles
in engineering, projects, operations, maintenance, environment, safety, management
and customer service.
James is a member of the Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Society.
He also holds several certifications in safety, refrigeration, process control and
management.

Business Development Director
Fawaz holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Louisiana,
USA. He has more than 20 years experience in Sales and Marketing, beginning with
Transamerica De Laval in Oakland, California marketing engines for power plants
and radio stations in Saudi Arabia. Fawaz worked for 15 years with GE Medical Systems
in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was the company’s Country Sales Manager in Saudi. He
then joined Cerner Corporation, Kansas City, Missouri as its GCC Business Development
Manager.
Fawaz is a member of IDEA and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Financial Director
Sandeep is a Chartered Accountant and a Graduate of Commerce. He has over 22 years
experience and has worked with international accounting and consulting firms and
with large contracting companies in the past. Sandeep has been a member of Tabreed’s
senior management since its inception and is responsible for all of the Group’s
finance, accounting and banking activities.
He actively participates in strategic planning and has been involved in all of Tabreed’s
financing activities including:

Procurement Manager
Yaslam holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Napier University and a OND
in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from the Falkirk College of Technology,
both in Scotland, UK. He is a member of the UK’s Institute of Purchasing & Supply.
He is also a member of the Society of Engineers – UAE.
Yaslam has attended several logistics, purchasing & supply management courses. He
joined Tabreed from Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company where he held various roles
in procurement over 11 years.
